ROME – Europe’s smart home market is growing. In the third quarter deliveries of “smart” TV, speakers, lights, and thermostats reached 23.8 million units, an increase of 18% on an annual basis. IDC analysts report that in 2023 deliveries will increase to 185.9 million units compared to 108 million in 2019.
The lion’s share is taken by audiovisual entertainment devices, i.e. smart TVs flanked by flash drives such as Amazon’s Fire Stick, which make TVs smarter. This category of products represents 58.2% of the total market, with 13.8 million units.
In second place are the smart buy soma online overnight delivery speakers, which a total of 4.5 million units delivered – more than half of which are Amazon branded – and an increase of 36.6%. Analysts crown Amazon queen of the connected house, thanks to “a stellar quarter”. From July to September, Jeff Bezos’ company sold 3.9 million devices in Europe, an increase of 26.8% year-on-year. In second place is Google with about 3,8 million units (+11,2%), followed by Samsung with 2,9 million devices (+9,7%). Off the podium Lg with 2.4 million (+14.5%) and Sony with 1.3 million (+11.1%).
