John Walsh never just viewed music as a career. For him, music was a message. It was a way of expressing emotions. Most importantly, it was like a support system that was present on all sorts of occasions for him. Thus, for John, music was a huge part of his life.
When John was five years old, music had recently entered his life. He had just started to vibe against his favorite records. Once when he had a tiring day at school, he came home exhausted. As his mom was still preparing his meal, he went to his room and plugged in some music. And the rest is history. Since that day John started feeling a connection with music. It comforted him whenever he was tired, lonely, or sad. As a result, music became his support system. John knew that whenever anything went wrong, he could rely on music to comfort him.
For John, no occasion was complete without music. Whether it was a small family dinner where he danced with his parents or a school concert where he enjoyed with his friends. Every event in John’s life had music in it. As a result, he became so used to it that whenever there was music in the background he felt as if something was incomplete.
With different sounds and lyrics, every kind of music served a different purpose for John. Loud and high pitch music helped him zone out and take out his excitement. Whereas slow music helped him relax. During times when he felt that his emotions were overwhelming, he would just quietly plug in some headphones and listen to music. This helped him get everything under control and look at things from a different perspective. Moreover, John believed that if we paid attention to the wordings of a song, then we would realize that often they have small messages and stories hidden inside them. Every musician or songwriter is inspired by something that enables them to compose that piece. With concentration, we can find these messages that may inspire us in our own journey.
Thus, music was never just a source to earn or get fame for John. Instead, it was a connection for him that helped him build himself into the amazing person he currently is.
