Despite excelling in scholastics, Melanie Avalon was always fond of the entertainment industry. While in her hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, she acted in community theatre and gained a passion for acting. She left college early at the age of 17, to attend the USC School of Theatre and School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles, during which time she interned for producers like Jerry Bruckheimer, Julia Pistor (the former head of Nickelodeon Movies and Executive Producer at Mattel), and Jim Whitaker at Disney Studios.
