Times of adversity don’t often knock first. In fact, it often strikes without warning and can repeat itself frequently. Only a strong-willed person and someone who is adamant about changing their circumstances can truly overcome hardships. Rachel Cohen, a fitness and social media influencer, has faced many challenges but refused to give up.
Growing up in upstate New York, Rachel hails from a religious family. Being the third eldest of seven siblings, she was taught to be responsible for her younger siblings from a tender age. Despite experiencing bullying during her childhood due to her weight, she never gave up. In fact, she took control of her health and weight, stating, “I’ve always been fascinated by the science of the body, and my fitness journey began at the tender age of 11.“
Always having a positive attitude toward the things happening around her, Rachel kept her calm when her parents divorced. But she began to break when her mother served the divorce papers right before her sixteenth birthday. Despite her challenges, Rachel remained committed to finding love and married at a young age. Being a wife and mother to three beautiful daughters was everything for her. Staying positive, she asks, “Is it a failure if you learned and grew from it?”
Working as a freelance hairstylist and being a stay-at-home mother for a decade was not enough for Rachel. Her inspiring story began with her leaving an unhappy marriage to secure a better life for herself and her daughters. While working as an A/R specialist at a pharmaceutical company, she didn’t stop striving to provide for her family. Transitioning from freelance hairstyling, she chose to pursue a career as a fitness influencer, showcasing her determination and passion for a healthier lifestyle. Her journey exemplifies resilience and the pursuit of a brighter future.
Despite receiving negative comments about the drastic career change, she remained focused on her goals and worked tirelessly to achieve them. She posts on her Instagram about the different fitness obstacles she faced and overcame. She now helps women of all ages to gain health and fitness and achieve the body of their dreams. Rachel is working hard to train her body and mind through rigorous Spartan Training to find her place in the American Ninja Warrior show.
Inspired by her experiences with bullying, Rachel launched a kindness initiative called “One Bracelet At a Time.” Through this entrepreneurial endeavor, she aims to make a difference by fostering acceptance and self-love. Her determination and compassion inspire others, as she envisions a more inclusive society where unique qualities are embraced.
