A highly talented interior designer, Joshua Jones, firmly believes in persistence and hard work. His life philosophy is that “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”
Jones has an optimistic approach and knows how to overcome adversaries and every obstacle that comes his way.
Being Deaf, Jones faced a lot of challenges and even discrimination when he started working. According to him, “The design/architecture firms I interviewed with all were more concerned with how we would communicate instead of looking at my talents and figuring out how we can work best together.”
Jones describes how frustrated he felt during these encounters. After discussing his concerns with his partner, Jeffry Kahle, he came up with an amazing solution that gave birth to JJones Design Co. As a result of his Deafness, his partner suggested he start a business specializing in helping clients design and decorate their spaces online. By doing so, he will be able to connect with people both domestically and internationally.
“I thought it was a great idea, and that’s how I started my business,” Jones said. “I hope it keeps growing and expanding.” He has been stunningly brilliant in doing that as well because, during the last 7 years, he has completed over 500 E-design projects. A few of his works have been featured in House Beautiful Magazine, Business of Home, CNN, Apartment Therapy, Hunker, MyDomaine, and Strategist, as well as a book that is yet to be published in fall 2022.
You sometimes need to change paths or patterns when faced with adverse situations in life. By continuing to do what you did and staying on the same path, you will only grow weaker and will have nothing but lemons to show for it. Whenever a situation is so difficult that attempting to deal with it could lead to further harm, let it be. Focus on something else and make something new.
Jones believes that when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. According to him, this phrase simply means, “do not give up when you face an adverse situation.”. Instead, just take advantage of it because it makes you feel optimistic.
Often, we underestimate our power in many situations. Avoid adding needless despair to suffering by taking appropriate action. Release anything that is outside your sphere of influence. It may be a good idea not to push yourself too hard when things are not looking good. Keep your focus on surviving.
Jones said that it was this philosophy that led him out of troubled waters and helped him get back on his feet. He said that if you’re optimistic, you can achieve anything you want.
